DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SERIES (5/23/25)

Welcome to the domestic violence series, focusing on raising awareness of domestic abuse’s detrimental effects on mental and emotional health, highlighting the importance of recognizing signs and supporting victims. In this series, we will explore various aspects of domestic violence, including its prevalence and impact on individuals and families, as well as the often-overlooked psychological consequences that can persist long after the abuse has ended. By promoting education and conversation, we aim to create a safer environment where individuals feel empowered to seek help and speak out against their experiences. Together, we can foster a community that understands the signs of abuse and actively works to provide the necessary support to those in need.

Today, we explore why victims of domestic violence often don’t leave, delving into the complexity of their situations and the multitude of factors that can trap them in a cycle of abuse. Leslie Morgan Steiner shares her deeply personal experience in a compelling TEDTalk, addressing widespread misconceptions about victims, such as the belief that they must simply walk away if they want to escape their circumstances.

She highlights the emotional, psychological, and economic barriers that contribute to their inability to leave, such as fear, trauma bonding, and financial dependence. Furthermore, Steiner discusses the critical importance of support systems and community education in breaking the cycle of silence surrounding this issue, urging listeners to become allies and advocates for those affected by domestic violence. By fostering understanding and empathy, we can work towards creating an environment where victims feel safe and empowered to seek help and reclaim their lives.

BURN BABY BURN!!!

Greetings!

The Nottoway Plantation fire has righteous people celebrating the destruction of a symbol of oppression, while the white media wants us to mourn this as some “loss of history.” Instead of honoring a place that has long represented the painful legacy of slavery and exploitation, many individuals are choosing to see this event as a necessary step toward healing and embracing a future free from the chains of the past.

Well, the professor decided to post this story to refute that lie, highlighting the importance of recognizing the true history behind such locations and advocating for the voices of those who suffered rather than the preservation of a problematic narrative that only serves to glorify the oppressors. This act of storytelling not only seeks to correct misconceptions but also to honor the memories of those whose experiences have often been overlooked in mainstream historical accounts. By shedding light on this issue, the professor aims to provoke critical conversations about history, heritage, and the ongoing struggle for justice and equality, urging others to engage in dialogue that challenges established narratives and fosters a deeper understanding of the complexities of our past.

The professor believes that by confronting uncomfortable truths, we can begin to heal and work towards a more equitable future, where all stories are told, and all voices are heard. This commitment to historical integrity serves as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to ensure that the lessons of the past inform our actions in the present and future.

Today, we have a special message from The Professor.

By now, everyone has heard about the massive destruction of Los Angeles during the wildfires that ravaged the area, leaving a trail of devastation in their wake. But there’s a place just outside of LA that few have heard of: Altadena. Its story, both before and after the wildfires, is a perfect microcosm of why reparations are owed.

The rich history of this small community, filled with diverse cultures and resilient residents, paints a stark contrast to the environmental and social injustices that have plagued it over the years. While the fires brought widespread attention to the urgent need for sustainable practices and better support for vulnerable neighborhoods, Altadena’s experience highlights the long-standing disparities faced by such areas, as they continue to rebuild and seek acknowledgment for the systemic neglect that has led to their struggles. In many ways, the narrative of Altadena is not just about recovery; it is about addressing the historical injustices that have been exacerbated by disasters, ultimately advocating for a fairer and more equitable future for all its residents.

I’m going to post more videos like this…

Whether this was fake or not, in my opinion, this video and others like it were made to teach the signs to look for when people can’t verbally ask for help.

These educational resources play a crucial role in raising awareness about non-verbal cues that individuals may exhibit in distressing situations. By understanding these signs, we can foster a more compassionate and responsive community, enabling everyone to recognize when someone is in need of assistance, even if they are unable to articulate it.

The implications of such knowledge extend beyond personal interactions; they can influence how we train professionals in various fields such as healthcare, education, and public safety, ensuring they are equipped to support those who may be silently struggling.

SPIRITUAL PRACTICES OF AFRICA, AND THE DIASPORA (5/18/25)

Welcome to SPIRITUAL PRACTICES OF AFRICA AND THE DIASPORA! By illustrating the region’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant spiritual life, we delve into a variety of rituals and community gatherings that not only celebrate identity and belonging but also serve to preserve ancient wisdom and foster intergenerational connections. As we explore these practices, we will discover how they evolve and adapt within the diaspora, creating a dynamic tapestry of faith and cultural expression that resonates with millions around the world.

In today’s installment, I wanted to talk a bit about Islam in Africa.

There is a misconception that Islam is new in Africa, but Africans were among the first non-Arabs to accept Islam, embracing its teachings and principles with open hearts. It’s unfortunate that many believe Africans are recent converts or unaware of the rich history of Islam on the continent, while in reality, the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) sent his companions to Africa before anywhere else, establishing early Muslim communities that flourished in regions such as Abyssinia.

These early interactions not only facilitated the spread of Islamic beliefs but also fostered significant cultural exchanges between Arab and African societies, laying the groundwork for a vibrant Islamic civilization that would grow and evolve over centuries across the diverse landscapes of Africa.

Now, to go into more detail…

Join Dr. John Henrik Clarke in his enlightening lecture “The Rise of Islam in Africa,” where he not only discusses the historical significance of Islam’s expansion in Africa but also delves deeply into the complex interactions between various African societies and the rich Islamic traditions that emerged as a result.

He explores the multifaceted factors that facilitated Islam’s spread across the continent, such as the pivotal roles of trade networks, cultural exchanges, and migratory patterns, which served as conduits for ideas, beliefs, and practices to traverse vast distances. Furthermore, Dr. Clarke highlights the invaluable contributions of African Muslims to the cultural, intellectual, and artistic landscape of Islamic civilization, showcasing remarkable figures and communities that have enriched the faith’s legacy through their innovations in philosophy, art, and science.

He delves into the fascinating stories of scholars and artisans whose legacies continue to influence modern thought and creativity, illustrating how their contributions have laid the foundation for numerous fields ranging from philosophy to the arts. In addition, he examines how Islam has been integrated into diverse African cultures, adapting to and influencing local customs and practices in a myriad of ways, which ultimately shapes the identities of millions across the continent. This intercultural exchange not only enriches the local cultures but also promotes a deeper understanding among communities that may otherwise remain isolated. The synthesis of Islamic tenets with indigenous beliefs has led to unique expressions of faith and community that celebrate both spirituality and heritage, giving rise to vibrant traditions, festivals, and artistic endeavors that draw on the rich tapestry of history while fostering a sense of belonging in an ever-changing world. Such interactions highlight the dynamic nature of culture, emphasizing that identities are not static but continually evolving through dialogue and shared experiences.

THE MOMENT OF TRUTH FRIDAY CRIME REPORT (5/16/25)

Greetings!

Every Friday, PROFESSOR BLACK TRUTH presents “The Friday Crime Report,” a compelling program that delves deep into the myriad challenges faced by the black community, including systemic racism, economic inequality, and social injustice. With a rich combination of thorough research, personal narratives, and in-depth expert interviews, the show aims to raise awareness and foster meaningful discussions surrounding these critical issues. Each episode not only sheds light on the experiences of individuals within the community but also advocates for the amplification of community voices and encourages significant policy changes designed to improve the lives of marginalized individuals. By weaving together personal stories with impactful statistics, the program seeks to inspire audiences to engage actively in the pursuit of equity and justice, making it a vital resource for those looking to understand and address the systemic issues affecting the black community today.

In Today’s installment…

The GOP takeover of Jackson, MS has predictably resulted in white roving gangs preying on the public, creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among residents who now feel vulnerable in their own neighborhoods. These gangs operate openly, emboldened by a perceived lack of accountability, which has instilled a deep sense of dread within the community. The illegal imprisonment of Sinatra Jordan and the attempted murder of Sherita Harris are just two harrowing examples of how these race soldiers are allowed to commit crimes with impunity, acting as if they are above the law and perpetuating a cycle of violence that goes unchecked.

This increasing violence and disregard for the rights of marginalized communities not only highlights systemic issues within law enforcement but also raises urgent questions about accountability and justice. Citizens are left to navigate a treacherous landscape where their safety can be compromised at any moment, leading to further unrest and calls for immediate intervention. As tensions continue to escalate, individuals find themselves in a pervasive state of fear, witnessing firsthand the harmful consequences of inequitable treatment by those sworn to protect them.

This situation not only undermines public trust in law enforcement but also perpetuates cycles of violence and despair, prompting widespread demands for reform and a reevaluation of how justice is administered in our society. Advocates emphasize the necessity for transparent investigations into incidents of brutality and the implementation of policies that prioritize the dignity and rights of all citizens, ensuring that marginalized voices are amplified in the discourse surrounding public safety and systemic reform.
