I just saw this AMAZING short documentary about the late, great Mestre Waldemar da Paixao made by Mestre Negoativo (click HERE to see his YouTube channel, and click HERE for more info about him), and I was gonna write a blog about it, but I thought that the video was so wonderful, that I decided to make it a permanent page on this website.
Now in case you didn’t know…
Mestre Waldemar was one of the most well-known mestres of Capoeira Angola in the 20th century, having been part of a historic DOCUMENTARY about capoeira, as well as hosting a RODA in a place called CORTA BRACO, later known as Liberdade, which became one of the most important rodas in Salvador.
He also recorded an ALBUM with Mestre Canjiquinha.
Here is the video from YouTube, I’ve made no additional comments, as I believe the video speaks for itself.
So watch it, and share it far and wide.
Oh, and I forgot to tell you, he was a very well known berimbau maker, and you can say that he started the commercialization of the berimbau in Bahia.
