Like I said in another Post, my parents grew up in a society that treated them in a similar way that Palestinian people are treated now in the state of Israel. When we are talking about this in our history classes,

We are talking about My Mother who was born in Atlanta Ga. during this era, and my father, who although was born in a different part of the country during this era, suffered the same treatment.

And I can NEVER support a state that does the same thig to another people.

Now, for those of you who are wondering, “Now, for those of you who are wondering, “What does this have to do with Capoeira?”

Contra Mestre Erik “Chicago” Murray, a student of Mestre Joao Grande for over 28 years. was one of thr first students of Mestre Joao Grande when he first came to the United States to teach.

Here is a recent video of him in action.

This video was the first video where I saw movements from Capoeira Angola, and it was one of my main inspirations to learn Capoeira Angola. It was from that documentary that I saw that Capoeira Angola is a beautiful, timeless tradition, and after that documentary (And a couple of others), that I told myself that I was going to find a teacher and commit myself into learning everything I can about this tradition, hence one of the reasons I ended up creating this website.

Capoeira Gathering at Barracão D’Angola

A classic weekly Capoeira gathering at Barracão D’Angola in Serra Grande took place on January 10, 2015. This event was a special occasion with Mestre Cabello, Mestre Joel, Mestre Jogo de Dentro, Dinho Nascimento, Contra Mestre Toicinho, and students from Centro de Capoeira Angola OuroVerde coming together. The energy and sense of community during the event were felt throughout the roda as the practitioners showcased their skills in this traditional art form.

Mestre Joel, Mestre Jogo de Dentro, and Dinho Nascimento’s expertise added depth to the experience. With the presence of CM Toicinho and the participation of the students from Centro de Capoeira Angola OuroVerde, a diverse range of talents and a shared passion for Capoeira Angola filled the roda. Such gatherings play a crucial role in preserving and nurturing this vibrant cultural heritage, bringing together practitioners to celebrate the history, music, and movements of Capoeira.
