HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Merry Christmas everybody!!!

I know I don’t have to define Christmas, but in case anybody doesn’t know, Check this out.

And, here’s anice, “super woke” video about this holiday, courtesy of Charity Croft..

Okay, now that we got that out of the way…

For me, Christmas, indeed the whole Holiday season, has always been the time of year that everything around e is a bit… better. People seem to be a little nicer, he weather, though cold here in the U.S.A., seems to be a bit nicer, and everything, people, animals, plants, EVERYTHING is just… better.

Now, I know that MY experience is not the same as other people’s experience. For some of you out there, this holiday may be a hurtful, or even a traumatic experience. the holidays can also be a difficult time for many. It can bring up triggers from your past, or you may be struggling with their feelings of belonging.

I wish I can do something to take the hurt away, but all I can offer is this.

My dear friends at KIN UNIFIED HEALING have created a small five minute sound meditation that you can listen to, for any of you out there that may need it. I hope this helps.

Click HERE to check it out.

As I type these words, there’s a brutal war and genocide happening in Palestine, specifically the Gaza Strip.

I would like those who are reading this post to send a prayer for the Palestinian people, and for this senseless war to end.

I’m gonna ed this post with this playlist of Christmas songs by Pentatonix.

HAPPY WINTER SOLSTICE!!!

Well, BELATED winter solstice, anyway.

In case you don’t know what the winter solstice is, here’s a little definition FROM WIKIPEDIA:

The winter solstice, also called the hibernal solstice, occurs when either of Earth‘s poles reaches its maximum tilt away from the Sun. This happens twice yearly, once in each hemisphere (Northern and Southern). For that hemisphere, the winter solstice is the day with the shortest period of daylight and longest night of the year, and when the Sun is at its lowest daily maximum elevation in the sky.[7] Each polar region experiences continuous darkness or twilight around its winter solstice.

The winter solstice occurs during the hemisphere’s winter. In the Northern Hemisphere, this is the December solstice (usually 21 or 22 December) and in the Southern Hemisphere, this is the June solstice (usually 20 or 21 of June). Although the winter solstice itself lasts only a moment, the term also refers to the day on which it occurs. The term midwinter is also used synonymously with the winter solstice, although it carries other meanings as well. Traditionally, in many temperate regions, the winter solstice is seen as the middle of winter; although today in some countries and calendars it is seen as the beginning of winter. Other names are the “extreme of winter” (Dongzhi), or the “shortest day”.

Since prehistory, the winter solstice has been a significant time of year in many cultures and has been marked by festivals and rituals.[8] It marked the symbolic death and rebirth of the Sun; the gradual waning of daylight hours is reversed and begins to grow again. Some ancient monuments such as Newgrange, Stonehenge, and Cahokia Woodhenge are aligned with the sunrise or sunset on the winter solstice.

Let’s take a trip back in time.

Hi Everybody,

I just got home from a monthly Capoeira Angola Roda we have here in L.A., ad was surfing the web when I saw this You Tube video called CAPOEIRA ANGOLA: RELÍQUIAS DA VELHA BAHIA (CAPOEIRA ANGOLA: RELICS OF OLD BAHIA).

I’m not sure when this video was taken, but it shows a small window in time, a time in Bahia Brazil when the revered Mestres of the “Velha Guarda” (Old Guard) of Capoeira Angola were young, and a glimpse of how Capoeira was played in those days.

I hope you enjoy the video, and I will be posting up more videos like these in the future.
