Senators Fear Black Americans In Face Masks Will Be Exposed To Racial Bias | HuffPost

Well, as a black Man living through this Pandemic, I’ve had no problems with wearing the mask so far.

NEW YORK (AP) — Democratic lawmakers want police departments to be vigilant about any racially biased policing during the coronavirus pandemic, as people in communities of color express fears of being profiled while wearing masks or other face coverings in public.

In a letter sent Friday to Attorney General William Barr and FBI Director Christopher Wray, Sen. Kamala Harris of California and other Democratic members of the Senate Judiciary Committee urged federal law enforcement agencies to provide anti-bias training and guidance to police officers. The officers may increasingly encounter masked residents as the nation weighs a gradual reopening of the economy in the coming weeks, the senators said.

Pandemic-ing While White – Tim Wise – Medium

Because humans are fundamentally social creatures. We are not, contrary to popular American belief, merely rugged individuals. If we were, we wouldn’t mind isolation the way we so obviously do after a month or so of sheltering-in-place and following stay-at-home orders amid a global pandemic.

“Aliens” Didn’t Build The Pyramids Or Other Ancient Wonders, It Was Black People

Some people have been brainwashed by racism so much that even the thought of a black person having ANY unique skills or ANY supreme circumstance is blasphemous. It’s easier for some people to believe that all wise and mysterious intergalactic creatures from space came and built the wonders of the world rather then the black people who’ve been civilized and civilizing on this planet for millions of years.

The Great Land Robbery: How Federal Policies Dispossessed Black Americans of Millions of Acres | Democracy Now!

Over the 20th century, black people in the U.S. were dispossessed of 12 million acres of land. Half of that loss — 6 million acres — occurred over just two decades, from 1950 to 1969, a period largely associated with the civil rights struggle. This mass land dispossession, which affected 98% of black agricultural land owners, is part of the pattern of institutional racism and discrimination that has contributed to the racial wealth gap in the United States. Many of the driving forces behind this land theft were legal and originated in federal policies, as documented by Vann Newkirk, staff writer at The Atlantic. His latest piece for the magazine is the September cover story: “The Great Land Robbery: The shameful story of how 1 million black families have been ripped from their farms.”
